“The word ‘Awsat’ in the Chapter: 5 Verse 89 associated with the word ‘Wusta’ in the Verse 238 conveys the meaning of ‘normal’ (food). These two verses appear to convey the sense that we should monitor our Salat i.e. offer the Salat five times a day in the ‘normal’ procedure but when in fear, as in the case of a war, we can offer Salat while walking or on the back of the animal we are riding. This is Salat offered in an ‘Abnormal’ way. When the fear is gone, we are ordered to revert to the ‘normal’ procedure of Salat taught to us by Allah (SWT).”
