Al-'Imran (The Family of Imran)
Surah 3 · Verse 7
He it is Who has sent down the book to you, in it are statements which are decisive, they are the basis of the book and others are allegorical. So those in whose hearts is (a desire for) deviation from the right, they follow that which is allegorical in it, seeking to mislead and seeking to interpret it, and no one knows its interpretation except Allah; and those sound in knowledge say, “We believe in it, all is from our Fosterer, and no one minds except those who have understanding.
1.Decisive: containing instructions and assertive facts, which form the basic theme of the book.
2. Allegorical: dealing with the explanation of certain unseen things through the examples of seen things. This allegorical part is followed by those in whose hearts is a desire to deviate from the right interpretation and there by mislead others. They do not appear to follow the instructional part of the Quran. Those who are sound in knowledge believe that Allah (SWT) alone knows the correct interpretation because both the types of verses have been revealed by Him, they pray that their hearts should not deviate from the right after Allah (SWT) has guided them. They pray for His mercy because they fear the accountability on the day of judgment.”
