Surah 5 · Verse 27
And recite to them the true story of the two sons of Adam, when they both offered an offering, but it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other (who) said, “I will definitely kill you.” (The other) said, “Allah accepts only from those who guard (against evil), (P 5
The dispute of the two sons of Adam (PBH) is narrated. This seems to be the first fulfillment of the announcement of Allah (SWT) made while sending Adam and his wife (PBH) out of the garden, “Go down! Some of you will be the enemies of others” 2:36. It also appears that it was the first human death, that too by murder. The natural manner of disposing off the dead body was to bury it in the ground as demonstrated through a crow. Had the murdered son lived, the human population would have been more, it is probably due to this reason that it is stated that murdering one person is as good as murdering all human beings and saving the life of one person is as good as saving the lives of all human beings.
