Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage)
Surah 22 · Verse 11
And among mankind is he who serves Allah (standing) on the verge, so that, if good befalls him he is satisfied with it but if a trial afflicts him he turns away his attention (from the service of Allah). He loses this world as well as the hereafter, that is a clear loss.
Human nature is described: In prosperity people are satisfied but when tested through adverse circumstances they turn away from Allah (SWT) and pray to things which can neither harm them nor profit them. In fact there is harm in this act because it amounts to polytheism which is punishable.
